Time is running out – you must register by August 14, 2007, to protect your right to claim 9/11-related
federal workers’ compensation benefits.
If you are a New Jersey resident you may qualify for free medical care or lost-wage benefits if you helped
with post-9/11 operations between September 11, 2001, and September 12, 2002
- at the World Trade Center site (south of Canal and Pike streets)
- on the barges between Manhattan’s west side and the Fresh Kills Land Fill
- at the Fresh Kills Land Fill, or
- at the New York City morgue or temporary morgue sites.
You should also register:
- if a previous claim was denied because you “didn’t file timely”
- if you are experiencing mental health or stress related problems resulting from your 9/11C work
- whether you were a worker or volunteer, even if you were not part of an organized volunteer group
- even if you have no apparent 9/11-related health problems now.

Registering now does not mean that you are filing a claim for workers compensation benefits, but if you do later file a claim, you should consult a qualified WC attorney. To protect your right to claim 9/11-related
workers’ compensation benefits in the future if a health problem arises, you must register now.
If you don’t register, you forfeit your rights to future claims.
Please note: Although you will file your registration form (WTC-12) with the New York
Workers' Compensation Board, these are federally funded benefits for which New Jersey
residents are eligible.
